IHA Authenticity
The following guidelines wil be used by the IHA at all IHA events and can be changed or ammended by the authenticity committee at any time with a majority vote.

1) The event staff will be responsible to ensure that all attending participants pass a authenticity inspection prior to entering the battfield for the first time each day.

2) Unit commanders will be responsible for inspecting their troops prior to the event staff inspection to ensure they are to pass to speed up this process. Avoiding the inspection will get you removed... be careful!

3) You are expected to portray the average appearance of the soldier your unit portrays in the situation portrayed.

4) Medals and decorations earned in the real world do not apply to your impression, unless your unit commander approves this on the unit level and must be a period equivalent that he assigns.

5) Platoon sized units should not have an officer rank above 2nd lieutenant and only one officer. (unless HQ)

6) Company sized units would not have a ranked restriction but should not have more than 2 officers.

7) All medals worn must be appropriate and period correct.

8) All prescription eyeglasses should be period correct, shatter proof, and only period correct sunglasses are allowed.

9) Beards and mustaches will be frowned upon unless that impression demands it.

10) Weapons must be correct from the period or converted to very closely resemble a period weapon or a suitable replica. The 10 foot rule applies but do not push the issue at a public event. (A mp-40 is not a sten parts kit!) This rule is established to counter balance all the allied automatic weapons readily available at reasonable prices in contrast to the very high priced axis weapons available. Conversions must be approved by ent staff before use!

11) Foreign unit commanders should learn the basic muster and marching commands in that nationality's own language to represent a proper impression for all bystanders affiliated or not.

12) Italian camoflauge should be worn by the italians.

13) Uniforms, equipment, insignia, and emblems must be of type, style, material, and used by the unit being portrayed.

14) To serve as a authenticity committee official at an event you must be a unit commander,IHA officer, or appointed by one of them to perform that function and instructed to do the job properly. Anyone caught harassing any member of any organization during an inspection that the member is required to stand for will be warned (1st instance), then sanctioned for one year (2nd occurance) from the IHA, and if repeated will be removed from the IHA forever!

15) The standard appeals process applies to argue an authenticity point. Six photos- three of the item used in the period and three of what you want to use at an event. A majority vote of the committee decides.

16) In the event of extreme wet, cold, hot, windy, humid, unsafe weather conditions, uniform exceptions will be made without any reprecussions to anyone involved. So be careful not to post any derogetory remarks about your fellow reenactors on the internet due to weather conditions.

17) Vehicles from the period portrayed should be used if possible. If a reproduction or conversion is to be used, it must be inspected before allowed to participate, and apprroved as a safe and authentic portrayal.

18) The Nazi political flag is not to be used at any IHA event. The german battle flag may be flown at a tactical event only to mark the axis HQ or position, to show the allied objective, or to be captured and replaced by an allied victory. A nazi political flag will not be used to mark a captured vehicle.
